Footy Season Is Here.
It’s the time of year that I love, but my wife hates. Footy season! Carey calls herself a footy widow because at 7:30 on Friday night, when the whistle blows, she feels like she doesn’t exist. That’s a bit harsh I think. She gets my undivided attention at half time. Anyway, my youngest son and I will be sitting in Suncorp Stadium when the Brisbane Broncos take on the North Queensland Cowboys on March 9 and we are both looking forward to it. However with me supporting the Broncos and Grant the Cowboys, it’s sure to be a sad train trip home for one of us. The first home game is always exciting and it’s usually a full house. If you’ve never been to Suncorp, you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s an amazing stadium, because it doesn’t matter where you are, you always get a great view …… unless someone with a huge hat sits in front of you. It’s like you can hear and feel every bone crunching tackle. I’m told State of Origin at Suncorp is amazing, and it’s on my bucket list to do……maybe this year.
Our Brand New Sign.
Brad pointed out to me recently that our sign at the front was looking pretty “shabby”. So I decided to get the hose out and have a go at cleaning it. Imagine my horror when the paint all started flaking off. After my initial disappointment, I decided to get a new one. After all, it was eight years old so Pete from Signarama installed a brand new sign which looks great. I thoroughly recommend Signarama if you need a new sign for your business or vehicle.
A Very Worthy Cause.
We were recently approached by the Tewantin Noosa Lions Club to print raffle tickets raising money in support of Matt Golinski who tragically lost his wife Rachael and beautiful daughters Sage, Willow and Starlia in a house fire. As a father of three boys, my heart really goes out to Matt, so we decided to get on board to help this worthy cause. It started with 17 children brainstorming ways in which they could raise money to help Matt. With the support of a community, it grew to reach over $24,000 in prizes. With three major prizes and 40 minor prizes (valued at anywhere between $270 & $770) there’s a great chance of winning, but more importantly ALL funds will go to the Matt Golinski Recovery Fund. Tickets are only $5.00 and you’ll find them all around Noosa. Election Madness.
Can anyone tell me why when an election is called, business seems to go quiet. I’ve never understood it. Is the world going to suddenly fall apart on the outcome of an election? Honestly, after the election, it takes them six months to to anything as they all get into post-election celebrations, hand shaking and back slapping. They don’t call them parties for nothing.
You’d think being a printer, that we’d be flat out printing election brochures at this time, but the sad truth is local printers don’t seem to do very well at election time any more. I once embarrassed my wife on election day by turning over the “how to vote” cards and asking the volunteers one by one why they weren’t printed on the Sunshine Coast. When I was faced with blank looks, shrugged shoulders and dismayed silence, I said really loudly “Well, I’m not voting for him then”. I’ve been put on notice not to do it this year, or I can vote on my own…….but hey, it was funny. Come to think of it, we have two elections soon don’t we?
Don’t forget to check out our new specials for March.
Until next time, if we can help with anything, don’t hesitate to contact us.
